(Tag Book Pop-up)

I know it’s a day after Valentines but I still wanted to to share another card I made using Karen’s class card tag book technique. This one uses lots of candy hearts From Concord & 9th January release as well as Kristina Wern’s word die.

Gave it to the person I’ve had a crush on for more than three years, maybe it will work its magic? (I doubt it lol)

Inside of Valentines's card with lots of candy heart and a sentiment "I Just Love WHo You Are"

The way C9 designed the candy heart make it very easy to stamp using a MISTI. I used the positioned because I used a technique I learned from watching Gina K. - except i reverse her order for a candy heart word indent look. Place the card stock against a corner, I did upper right. Then stamp the words on first with Gina K’s amazing Ivory pigment ink about three times (to make sure it’s nice and opaque). Then without moving your stamp’s position on the MISTI, I moved the paper with the stamped ivory words down an itty bitty from the corner of the positioner, the to the left a teeny weeny. Just to make the paper slightly offset. Then ink up your stamp with a darker color in the same color family as your stock. Like for the C9 Briar Rose stock, I used Cranberry ink. If stamped just so - and only really need to stamp one time with colored ink…it should look like there’s a dimensional indent at the letters.

Then the fun begins, you’re given random words to form your messages. I think I might’ve hated this even more than playing Scrabble! And now that you have many cut out hearts from different colors, choose one and start inlaying your messages. What I do with inlays usually is just to place a piece of double sided adhesive behind the cover piece. That will provide a sticker backing covering all the inlay holes and shapes. Then after inlaying with one of those sticky picks, just peel off the backing and stick in onto your card. Easy!

I know I’m going backwards right now, which is a bit strange for me as well lol! But for the cover i used We R Makers’ new punch board for shadows b ones (the largest size is a 5x5” square with an opening of 4x4”). Then (as in my other card, inspired by Kristina Werner) i used cut 3/8” strips and come up with a 5 color palette. I used double sided adhesive sheet again to a piece slightly bigger than 5x5” so I have room to trim. Stick on the stripes at a diagonal, then trim. The piece should fit perfect into the shadow box BEFORE rolling the sides into position and “click” it together. For the Happy Love Day I layered it 5 or 6 times with heavy Kraft stock to give it dimension. And I chose a couple of anchor points on where I will attach the words and use Altenew’s new thin dimensional foam tape and double it up for thickness on matching color stripes, cut the angled ends and length by eye. This props up the already dimensional words to create a truly sleek and modern effect.

Hope you had a lovely Valentines (and not still secretly crushing on someone for 3 years lol)…
