(Stocking Pop-up)

I LOVE taking Karen’s classes and learning new ways to make cards directly from her - zoom or recorded. I am always excited to receive the class packets with all the patterned paper and card stock fresh and matching exactly as on her incredibly detailed worksheets. I also enjoy prepping along watching Karen’s tutorials, sometimes trying desperately to catch up.

I started joining Karen’s class in, I believe, April of this year. And besides the two times when USPS failed to deliver on time, I’ve been a loyal and eager participant.

Today when my friend asked if I could make a birthday card for her, I remembered that I had purchased older class kits that my wonderful friend Darlene had extras of - this one was a particularly masculine birthday card so it stuck out in my mind. It was card two from last year’s December class, right before I started to craft and began card making.

I had so much fun using the funky papers and just following along that right after I completed Karen’s version of this card for my friend I wanted to keep crafting. Should I work on another older kit that I had stockpiled? But then inspiration hit. My good friend’s birthday is coming up beginning of October…probably while I’m still recovering from surgery. He’s an avid basketball player so I decided to do the same card with new designs - this is seriously planning ahead!

His favorite color is blue, which worked out nicely with the orange from basketball. I tried to focus on the texture and the details. But I also found basketball themed paper I had bought for this purpose months ago. I hope he likes the card, I love it! The Chinese characters literally translates to Happy Birthday.

Karen dies used in this card:

1248 - Stockings Pop

1276 - Happy Birthday Lorna Add-ons
